Rehearsals for Pops 9/27/11–10/18/11
Rehearsals for the 2011–2012 season began on September 27, 2011—the first of four three Tuesday-evening rehearsals for "Fanfare for Food," the Pops concert on Friday October 21. Downbeat is at 7:15 p.m.; rehearsals end at 9:30 p.m. Site is the music room of East Avenue Middle School in Livermore. THERE WILL BE NO REHEARSAL ON OCTOBER 11: At the end of the rehearsal on 10/4/11, Dr. Barnes decided to cancel the orchestra rehearsal previously scheduled for October 11.

Concert and Dress Rehearsal Dates, 2011–2012 Season
The Pops Concert, "Fanfare for Food," is on Friday October 21, 2011, at 8 p.m. (no Saturday Pops concert; no dress rehearsal for Pops).
Dates of the major concerts: December 3, 2011; February 11, 2012; March 24, 2012; and May 12, 2012—all on Saturdays at 8 p.m. The dress rehearsals are on Dec. 1, Feb. 9, March 22, and May 10—all on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.

East Avenue Middle School, 3951 East Avenue, Livermore CA (parking lot is in front of the school)
The music room at East Avenue is the usual rehearsal site, but there may be changes if school activities conflict with orchestra rehearsals or if sectional rehearsals (as opposed to full-orchestra rehearsals) are held. There is often one week of sectionals before the major concerts.
Each concert season, regular Tuesday evening rehearsals (7:15–9:30) start with preparations for a pops concert and continue until the December concert, usually with no break in sequence. Then there are no rehearsals until the new year, when rehearsals normally begin on the first Tuesday after January 1. The Tuesday rehearsals continue with few breaks until mid-May. After the May concert the orchestra goes on break until fall.
There is a dress rehearsal on the Thursday evening prior to each major concert from 7:30 p.m. to about 9:45 p.m. Dress rehearsals and concerts are at the Bankhead Theater of the Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center.
