Celebrate our 2011–2012 season! The program comprises a series of four concerts to be performed at the Bankhead Theater in Livermore, California, and offers a wide variety of musical styles. For the opening concert on December 3 the orchestra was joined by the newly formed Pacific Masterworks Chorus together with other talented local musicians. The February 11 concert featured the winners of the LAS Competition for Young Musicians. Next, as a real treat, a former Livermore resident who was a winner of this competition in 1976 and now is associate concertmaster for the New York Met will be featured as principal soloist in the March 24 concert. The final concert on May 12 will be directed by a young conductor who has also had international experience and is currently a member of the local music community.photo of Laura Hamilton

In memoriam: Violinist and teacher Robert Jacobson, a longtime Livermore-Amador Symphony player and supporter, died in December 2011. Several other longtime, very active supporters of the Symphony died in October and November 2011: Helen Lindl, Nancy O'Connell, and Bob Stearns. They are and will continue to be missed.

String players needed: Our community-based orchestra has given much pleasure to audiences and players alike for many years. It has provided volunteer players of varying ages and abilities with the chance to learn new skills and to enjoy playing with a congenial group. We are always interested in finding new players, particularly those in the string section. Cellos and violas are in special demand! Rehearsals began on September 27 at East Avenue School in Livermore. Join the orchestra.

Plans for season number 50: The 2012–2013 season will be the 50th for LAS, and it will be a very memorable and celebratory one. Introducing our 50th-season page!

Orchestra members: See the rehearsals page (rehearsals for the March concert began on Valentine's Day; sectionals—for strings only—will be on 2/28/12). Also see the orchestra members page, etc. Click here for some restricted info which was updated 2/13/12.
